I’m sharing a poem that I wrote 3 years ago, on this same day (or was it previous late night?) It’s in Urdu, full of flaws, unbalanced.mixed ideas, facts and emotions. Nonetheless, something.
Let me know what you think. 🙂 And I know it’s a bit annoying to read Roman Urdu (specially the way I write) XD but hehe I’m tooo lazy to type it. Sorry, not sorry, sorry? 😛 (maut=moot=mot=death however you like to spell it)
My parents have given me a beautiful name, a beautiful title and if I ever truly become that. Gham e maut mujhay nahi hai. ❤ Here goes:
Sab doobtay hain gham main,
koi nai baat nahi hai.
Hanstay hai sab kabhi na kabhi,
koi khaas baat nahi hai!
Bhool jatain hain deen-e- Islam,
koi nai baat nahi hai.
Gir jatay hain dunya kay khaddon mai,
kia afsoos ki baat nahi hai?
Baghair soochay samjhay karlaytain hai loog baray gunah,
koi nai baat nahi hai!
Magr kama laitain hain kuch loog thawaab sotay hee mai,
kia khaas baat nahi hai?
Dafan hoti hain maiyatain qabaristan mai rozana,
koi nai baat nahi hai!
Zinda thay wo bhi pahlay,
kia ye soochnay ki baat nahi hai?
Soochnay baithain hum to,
kartay kuch nahi hain!
Kar kay kuch bathain to,
soochtay kuch nahi hai!
Magan rahtay hai zindagi mai,
mazaq baat nahi hai!
Bhool jatay hai hum kay,
maqsad-e-wujood ye nahi hai!
Nahi kuch kia is zindagi mai to,
moon kia dekhaingay hashr main?
Kia jannat ke kirkee khulay gi ya,
saraingay hum qabr main?
Ataa hai malik-kul-maut,
roznana khuda kay hokum say
Kheench layta hai rooh wo badan say,
kia ye humain pata nahi hai?
Jaana hai har ik insaa ko is dunya say,
magar naikioon say pahlay inteqaal ho jai to,
kia udaasee ki baat nahi hai?
Dhans chuki ho tum is dunya kay daldal main….yahan,
Nikalo apnay aap ko tum is jal say kisi …tarha!
Dair mat karo chunkay paai jatay hain fitnay baray …yahan,
Aik say bhago to dosra aajaai ga …wahaan!
Dil-o demagh mai kabhi ik baat aatee hai mray,
Agar ban jaoon mai sahih maino mai aibon say paak,
To gham e maut mujhay nahi hai!
Rab mra mujh say razzee ho,
Kia yahi khushi nahi hai?

Here is a poem I wrote for a friend a couple of years ago. When I read it now it seems funny. But back then it had power. However, I wouln’t want to explain the point behind it because then it won’t be that fun. 😛
Time changes. Doesn’t it? Sometimes I WISH I could go back to being a child. I say this because this poem reminds me and a friend of mine of a cartoon we used to watch when we were kids. It was called Dragon Tales. Ring a bell? These day what I try to do is make my siblings watch it instead or other horrible cartoons they have these days. Good ol’ days. Sigh. Well here goes! 😀
I wish I wish with all my might,
To have a heart as pure as the morning light.
In this era of ignorance, the darks we must fight,
Forever, let our good deeds shine through the night.
Violence,hatred, racism, major problems,
Not one, not two, maybe even more than five,
Continuously and permanently add misery,
to our dear little life.
In the lane of hopelessness we can take flight,
But questioned we’ll be for being able to fight.
I watch joy be overshadowed with sadness,
In the silence of the night,
With all the inexplicable thoughts,
I yet not let my hope take flight.
I still wish and wish with all my might,
To shine with hope as beautiful as the morning light.
INKY
A mixture of misery and anger could be seen in her eyes. She was dressed in torn clothes, her dark dust covered hair hid her innocent dimpled face. Walking slow as ever into the darkness called home, managing to force half a smile as she spotted her one and only companion. It was her pet cat named Cherry. She clumsily walked towards it, as the furry animal welcomed her with a muffled meow. She gracefully sat next to Cherry and started to pet her.
Swallowing down her tears she spoke hesitantly, ‘No one cares about me, Cherry have you ever felt that way?’ In response Cherry blankly stared at her. This reaction made her giggle but the wave of laughter faded away as soon as it had come. ‘They all consider themselves to be above me. Why is my life so hard?’ she question not only this but the purpose of her existence.
‘Why am I never given a chance? Just because of my appearance. Because I don’t own better clothes? Can’t afford food!’ Do I not matter? her voice trembled as she attempted to control the whirlpool of emotions stirring inside her weak body. ‘I guess they follow that rule.’ She uttered the words with bitterness, as tears started to roll down her fragile face. Then with her mind tangled in thoughts and holding on to her aching heart she whispered, ‘We are what we eat. I eat nothing and so I am.‘ There was only one thing left to do, she used her hand as a pillow and tried to close her eyes shut to stop the tears from flowing. Sleep was the only way to fight the hunger, until the blazing sun in the morning forced her to wake up.

First time I’m responding to a Prompt. Do read and comment.
Behind jolly faces,
I’ve seen the emptiness they hide.
Behind authentic points,
I’ve seen the loop holes that lie.
Behind miserable faces,
I’ve seen the hope that flies.
Behind cloudy spects,
I’ve seen those beautiful eyes.
Behind deep scars,
I’ve seen the stories that reside.
Behind the darkness of this world,
I’ve seen the light that shines.
So make no mistake,
I do know this world of mine.

Broken dreams.
Depressed soul.
Sadness screams.
Pointless goals.
Wrecked thoughts.
Closed doors.
Opinions fought.
Impure cores.
Forever locked.
Is that broken soul.
